It’s not all disappointment. There are some very interesting candidates who seem to have thought about the issues and prepared themselves carefully.
Colleen James, running in Kitchener, has an excellent website highlighting her community profile, including a long-standing commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. Similarly, Matt Rodrigues and Kari Williams, also running in Kitchener, have taken the time to introduce themselves and their priorities thoroughly.

Many Waterloo Region residents have spent the last four years building up an appetite for change — from our heightened awareness of systemic racism in policing and society, to watching a fast-changing urban environment in which the misery of homeless people is rising almost as quickly as the condo towers displacing them. This is our chance to choose locally elected officials on regional council who will reflect these wishes. Let’s not be thwarted at the 11th hour.
