Mark Jackson-Brown rides a bicycle to work. And for groceries. And to take his children to birthday parties or the doctor’s office. Jackson-Brown, his wife and two young children live in central Kitchener.
They had an old car and a wheel fell off about a week before their first child was born. They decided to go car-free and use transit to get to appointments in the new baby’s first year.
“When we decided it was time to move this kid around a bit more, yeah, we looked at the options where we could spend $20,000, plus thousands of dollars a year, on a car, or basically spend $7,000 (on the e-cargo bike) with no ongoing costs,” said Jackson-Brown.
“We’ve been an e-bike family for two years now,” he added.
